In Christian victory publication we are told of a minister who had a horse that he had raised from a colt but decided to sell him. In explaining how to handle the horse to the owner, the minister informed him that the horse did not respond to the usual, “Giddap,” and “Whoa,” for starting and stopping. Instead, he had trained him to go when he said, “Hallelujah” and to stop when he said, “Amen. “The new owner started home and came to the edge of a cliff. He finally remembered to say, “Amen,” and the horse stopped just in time. In his relief, he cried. “Hallelujah. By thanksgiving we make progress and with amen stops dangers. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. The season has come again and we are all alive to celebrate it. America as a nation has this as one of the national holidays that every body in the country gives thanks. Making thanksgiving an habit helps to quell repining. Praise God for this season as this help us to reduce the volume of our complaint. Discovery of great help lies in the habit of giving thanks. Thanksgiving tends to enhance enjoyment. We all know that when we receive a gift, with any true sentiment and any suitable expression of thankfulness, the reaction of gratitude augments our gratification. It is observed that thanksgiving serves to soothe distress. Persons who are greatly afflicted, and may not want to be thankful, sometimes find the memory of past joys only an aggravation of present sorrow. The case is far otherwise with one who has learned to be habitually thankful. For him the recollection of happier hours is still a comfort. Thanksgiving helps to allay anxiety. Reading from the writing of apostle to the Philippians we are admonished that; “In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Giving of thanks helps to affect our hope. There is conjunction of ideas, which is founded on thinking of the past mercies and expecting the ones to come. Developing Ebenezer monument is a good way of moving ahead to the blessings that are yet to come with a humble hope. As we come to thanksgiving period this week, we must bear in mind that God deserves praise for everything that is pleasant. There is no blessing that comes to us that is not from God. Although it is humanly impossible for any man to have all that he likes. It is an undeniable fact that there are people that passed or currently passing through some pains; despite this there is need to praise God. The will of God is that in everything we should praise the Lord. Reasons for this injunction is whatever we are passing through could be worse than what is it presently. Even in the pain we can still experience the mercy of God. Things have happened in life that has assisted us to set the stage for character improvement. But the Scriptures assure us that devout souls may regard affliction as but a loving Father’s chastisement, meant for their highest good. In all the ages there has never been a pious life that did not share this experience. Many of us could testify today, if it were appropriate, that the sorrows of life have by God’s blessing done us good. Affliction brings to devout minds blessed views of the Divine character, which otherwise it would never fully gain. In conclusion I like to say that the living God the Creator and Sovereign Majesty of the universe. He loves you and wants a close relationship with you. He not only wants to spend a lifetime with you but also to spend every day with you throughout all eternity. Therefore, while you complete your walk here on earth, God wants you to set aside a special time every day just for you and Him; a special time for worship a time when you will listen to Him and praise Him for who He is. The salvation of our soul is so precious that we must sing praises to Him. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Listening to the News on our social media we can’t but hear breaking News just happening now in this hour. Listening to this news we wonder what is our world becoming. The news talks about violence, war, and killing either by diseases or terrorist groups all over the world. We have the problem of Ebola virus in West Africa, Boko Haram in Nigeria, ISIS in the Middle East and host of human venom biting and devouring fellow human being ferociously. Time will fail me to repeat the pocket of crimes all over the nations, protests and scams in all places. In short all that we have as news in this era are reports of danger and insecurity all over the world. It was like the language of Shakespeare that state ‘Macbeth has murdered sleep so he can sleep no more’; so we can almost say the entire world has murdered sleep and as a result she can never rest. Is there any hope of better news you quarried? To this there is answer in positive affirmation; The Gospel. Gospel is another news and this time, different news, it is good because it comes from above, and delivered by the Angels to the Disciples of Christ. The message is declared in Acts.1: 9-11 The same Jesus that is taken away from you is coming in like manner as you see Him go to heaven. In that passage we are able to hear another news that Christ is coming again to this world. The appearance of Jesus in Galilee brings a new age that requires repentance and faith. This same Jesus who overcame the grave in the resurrection from the dead is now the living Lord who is at work in the church and world, calling people to faith in the gospel. Who is Jesus and how will He change the situation in the world may be the inner quest in our hearts. We develop an insight into this by looking at His name. Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. This same Jesus is Christ and at the same time He is the Son of God. Jesus asked the disciples what they know about Him to this Peter answered in Mark 8:22 “You are the Christ.” The chief artery of the gospel is that Jesus is the very Son of God. He is a person. He is God. As the Creator He has the key to world problems. ‘Name’ according to Oxford English Dictionary is a word or set of words by which someone or something is known, addressed, or referred to. With this definition at the back of our minds; this same Jesus declared as the Son of God talks about relationship. This revelation of Jesus Christ has to do with His relationship to the Father, to the human race and to the church. He is the prince of peace. This Jesus is the only one that can bring peace to the world, which the enemy of man and God has disrupted. This is the only one that can bring this enemy into judgment. He relates to our world as the Former (Maker) not the reformer. As the Former of our world He has the solution to all the troubles in the world in His hand. He declared this in Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. Others built on many things. Mohammed built on false hope. Mormonism builds on its system of laws. All heathen religions build on false foundations. “I come to make all things new,” was the voice of this same Jesus in the earth. And here you have the spectacle of One, who is not following the teaching of any school or college, He is not following any ideology but as the Father directed the earth to be governed. No wonder Mary declared at Cana of Galilee to all the servants to do whatever He tells them. To the troubled world He declared come to me all that are troubled and heavy laden; I will give you rest. Turning our current breaking news to good news is based on this singular point, everyone should come to Him through repentance from evil, confessing it to Him, appropriate His shed blood on the cross for cleansing. Righting the wrong completes repentance and apologizing to the people we offend. We must ask for His grace to live righteously, holily before Him all the days of our life. Possessing the power that comes from above by the abiding presence of the Holy Ghost in our lives. It is when every individual calls upon the name of the Lord, then we can experience this good news in our world. Christ as the Former of the world has the key to govern of our world. Only in this is the assurance of our hope for peace in this crazy situation. Again I must remind you that Christ concluded the entire good news by saying I stand by door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in to Him and dwell with Him.
