Another year is here. Jesus Solution International Outreach rejoices with all her friends and partners, as we are able to have the opportunity to begin the year, 2015. The Psalmist in Psa. 90:9 referred to the years we are privilege to live, as our year. If ours then it is for a purpose as emphasized in the last blog. It is ours therefore we are entitled to enjoy it. It is also ours to employ. All the facilities we have are for the purpose of employment. Since this New Year again is ours it must be used judiciously for the progress of our lives. From the diary of Christopher Columbus we read that after each confrontation and adversity of the day he wrote, “today we move WESTWARD”. The challenges he met with his team did not deter him and the pilgrims from moving forward. As we come to the second month of this year, there is one thing that should occupy our mind and dairy, keep moving on forward for God and look for progress along the way.
I may need to mention that in this New Year it is the will of God that we shall all be successful. This again needs some clearance. There are many people that take success as a ladder to climb to great riches or top. Some even preach to the point of exploiting all the resource of fellow believers, sometimes unbelievers for their own gain and advantages. Many of the victims of fraudulent practice live all their lifetime in anguish and pain. What a shame that fraudsters are not only out there but they are in here (churches and acquaintances)? Success in a simple term is a fire escape, a way out of a bad situation to something better. In Spanish language, the word success ‘exito’ means exit in English. It is not the way up but the way out
2015 is ours to spend. This year 2015 will be the product of what our minds makes it. There are different schemes we draw out of life. Everyone is entitled to his schedule and roles. The outer production is but the exponent or expression of the inner life. The soul spreads its own hue over everything. To a fresh, genial spirit, life is joyous and the world is clothed in a wedding-garment; whilst to the somber, melancholic mind all nature is shrouded in a funeral-pall. In the case of each the shroud and the bridal-robe are woven in the loom of their own feelings. “The universe,” according to W. M. Paxton, “is the express image and direct counterpart of the souls that dwell in it. Be noble, and all nature replies, ‘I am divine’; be mean, and all nature dwindles into contemptible smallness.”
Therefore to decide for holy living in this New Year life will become real and glorious. It is extremely dangerous to occupy the year without bearing the fruits that brings God to a position of exaltation. Any timetable that fails to bring fruit, fall under the curse of the fruitless fig tree.
I like to sum up by saying that God has spared you another year 2015, and He has placed you under the new obligation to love and serve Him. The next commandment is to love our fellow beings (family, friend and the feeble). Set the timetable of the year by consecration of yourself and household to the Lord. The parents set the timetable of giving more faithful instruction to the children. Lets all raise the anthem of Joshua higher in our homes as we declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Once again may He make this year better than the past as we depend on Him. Amen.
The world echoed Happy New Year on the eve of this year like we do every other passing year. Each of these seasons is telling us that there is a scale of time in the light of eternity. Last 12 months we said the same slogan “Happy New Year”, the impression I have from this is that ‘time flies.’ We all know the impression is true; “Time flies!” It does. The years of a person’s life runs away like a stream of water, and carries us with it.
This week we experience a new change; 2014 is gone with its time that was once present but now no more. As we look back at its joy or sorrow, privileges and opportunities, all vanished into the thin air as the Psalmist described it a tale that is told. It is not just a year but also ‘our year’. Psalm 90:9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. I become a little confused at calling it ‘our year’ as we have no clue or control to the twinkles of its second or hour. It comes with 24 of its hours a day, seven days a week, and 52 weeks a year. It goes on without waiting for us; how then is it ‘our years?’ The most powerful President in this world cannot tilt the time by the minutest degree, upon all these the Psalmist still refereed to it as our year. This blog is not to critique the theological argument of this statement but to appropriate the text to our lives in the New Year.
2015 is ours because divine, personal, responsible, and indissoluble relations link every month in it to us as long as we are alive. If ours, then it is meant to be enjoyed. By enjoyment we have the appropriation by which a thing becomes truly our own. The design of God is that we shall enjoy the year. The only thing that will change that design is sin. Sin is a robber. Each new day, and so each year, was a new gift of Heaven to enjoy. In this blessed sense this New Year is our own. It comes with “many a glorious throng of happy dreams.” Each moment has its mercy, each hour its bursting hope, each day its “good and perfect gift,” and each year its crown of loving-kindness. Any day spent outside this window of enjoyment must be regarded as a robbery of self and big sin against heaven. With this in view, 2015 can be seen in the light of our seedtime. It is to be employed in tilling, sowing and reaping eternal harvest. The treasures contained in 2015 are the woof and warp out of which we weave the web of life. Ours to enjoy as we labor to dig out the ‘gold’ from the hidden dust of the earth in a legitimate way; shunning laziness and indolence out of our vigor.
2015 to me is like a stream flowing swiftly by us, and when once past, it will be gone forever; but if seized as the opportunity comes, and appropriated, it turns to its best to irrigate the garden of our souls. 2015 is part of what God gives to us that is carved out of His eternal frame to do our work. Our time is from cradle to the grave and 2015 is part of this reckoning period. To the Christians it is time to launch into the deep and harvest more souls for Christ. To the sinners it is time to seek Him when He can be found.
The year 2015 poses the challenge of accountability. God made it ours as loan to use wisely and pay the principal with interest. We have not only to account for each moment received, but for its use. With every hour that God gives us He seems to say, “Take this and occupy till I come.” 2014 is past and it is gone ahead to meet us at the Judgment Seat of God. Every day is a charge against us in the court of life. Every moment that fills up the measure of our time comes to us like a messenger from another world. This is to mark our conduct, and then hastens back with its report to the throne of God if the time is wasted or profitably used. At this junction applying the heart to wisdom upon its use is essential. Once again I say Our Happy 2015 will be for its design in our lives.
Please note as I conclude that God designed this year for you to enjoy, employ but give account. I believe God that all that He has earmarked for you this year will be enjoyed, and rightfully employed by His grace. Next blog will focus on Time Table for Progress.
